How it works
A clear plan.
At every step.
Know what happens next, what we need from you, and what to expect from the first conversation through ongoing support.
You work directly with Patrick Hogan. We agree on the scope before starting, share a working preview, and get your approval before launch.
Start a project- 01
Start with a conversation
Tell us about your business, audience, and what is working or missing on your current website.
Your part
Your goals, existing website address if you have one, preferred timeline, and examples you like.
What to expect
A shared understanding of what the project needs to achieve.
- 02
Agree on the plan
We define the pages, features, content, design direction, and responsibilities in a written proposal.
Your part
Review the scope, price, payment schedule, revision approach, and any outside service costs.
What to expect
An approved plan before paid work begins. Timing depends on scope and content readiness.
- 03
Gather the essentials
We organize your copy, logo, photos, contact details, and any existing domain or email requirements.
Your part
Supply approved materials and confirm you have permission to use them. Arrange delegated account access when needed.
What to expect
A clear content checklist. Never put passwords or payment details into a project brief.
- 04
Design and build
We bring the agreed direction to life in a working preview with layouts for desktop and mobile.
Your part
Review the direction and answer content or design questions as they arise.
What to expect
A preview you can explore before anything replaces your public website.
- 05
Review and refine
We work through your feedback and test navigation, forms where connected, responsive layouts, and key interactions.
Your part
Send one consolidated list of feedback and verify names, dates, photos, links, and business information.
What to expect
Revisions within the agreed scope. New features or expanded requests are discussed before extra work.
- 06
Approve and launch
After written approval, we connect the domain and publish the agreed site, with a plan for existing email and hosting.
Your part
Approve the final version and confirm account ownership, renewal arrangements, and any launch dependencies.
What to expect
Launch checks, project documentation, and a clear record of who manages each service.
- 07
Keep it current
Choose individual update requests or an agreed maintenance plan for the website as your business changes.
Your part
Send the changes you need. If something breaks, share the affected page, what happened, and a screenshot if useful.
What to expect
Support within your agreed arrangement. Response targets and emergency coverage are confirmed separately.
Before we get started
A few useful answers.
How are your websites built?
I build websites using React and Vite and typically host them on Vercel. This gives me flexibility to create a site around your business, with responsive layouts and efficient delivery. Your proposal explains hosting costs, account ownership, and how future updates are handled.
Can I update the content myself?
A custom website does not automatically include a content editor. For a standard build, send me the text, photos, or other changes you need and I’ll confirm the scope and cost before making them. If you want to edit content yourself, we can include a content management system in a separate agreed scope.
Who owns the website, and can another developer maintain it?
Your agreement sets out ownership of the website files and domain, account access, and the handoff process. React and Vite are widely used tools, so another developer familiar with them can maintain the code. We document the setup and clarify any third-party licenses or services before launch.
How long will my website take?
We estimate timing after reviewing the scope and your content. Feedback, account access, and outside provider requirements can affect the schedule. We will discuss changes to the expected timeline.
Can you help with an existing domain and email?
Yes. We review the current setup before making changes so website connections and existing email dependencies are understood. Transfers and email migrations are planned and approved before proceeding.
What if I need something outside the original plan?
We discuss the change, its effect on timing, and any additional price before you authorize the work.
What happens if my website goes down?
Use the support contact agreed for your project and include the affected address and what you see. We investigate within the agreed support scope and coordinate with the relevant provider when needed. There is no automatic 24/7 or emergency response commitment.
Do I need a monthly plan?
That depends on your needs. Routine updates can be arranged separately. Custom business email and ongoing management can be covered by a monthly plan with its services, licensing, and update allowance agreed in writing.
